There are cars we like. There are cars we love. There are cars we don’t like or love. And there are cars that deep down, we have a connection to, but somehow it’s hard to say we like or love the car because reasons or opinions. What car do you wish you were brave enough to love?
For me, it’s the R35 GT-R.
It’s amazing how the once mighty champion slowly tired of fighting the others in its tier and eventually end up mid-pack, and it’s infuriating to see the discussion about the car itself. It’s why, even if it’s just two ticks lower than the 458 in my Greatest Cars list, I don’t really get to lavish the R35 with as much adoration.

I would say anything Nissan has ever built, but...not, I don’t want to love anything Nissan ever built...

The GT-R has got to be mine too. To be honest I still hate seeing a GT-R next to the cars it competes with. The guy who bought my friend’s Supercharged BRZ, came to look at it in his GT-R which he had juiced up to 700 horsepower. He let my buddy and I take turns going up and back on the highway while he drove the BRZ. The acceleration squished my guts all up, it was the best!

(Modern) Hondas.
I haven’t liked a Honda since the SH package on the Prelude was still a thing and even then I didn’t want to admit respect for them as to not get lumped in with the F&F tuners that voted a Honda Civic as the “Best car” for our Senior Superlatives at my HS.

Virtually any Lamborghini.
A company started mostly out of spite for its rival, created by a one-time tractor manufacturer turned supercar powerhouse has slowly become a symbol of opulent, nay obnoxious, 1%ers, looking at you, every rapper since the Murcielago released.

180sx. It’s a very attractive car and would make a very decent track car. But it seems obligatory to turn it into a hellaflush drift beater and street race while vaping and listening to Skrillex.
Like, just look at the Google Images results. There are like two that aren’t horrible. https://www.google.com/search?q=180sx&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=638&site=webhp&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwizwJqs8tfPAhUCziYKHe0ABpAQ_AUIBigB
Even if I kept the body stock and just threw on some tasteful wheels and tires, and then added some go-fast bits that don’t make it sound like it’s farting, I just wouldn’t be comfortable driving it anywhere. The whole thing is ruined.
Same goes for 240s, R32s, 350/370Zs, and pretty much every other RWD Nissan sports car.

Lindsey stirling brought me here, who knew a metalhead like me could be content listening to dubstep violin music.
I relish in liking cars everyone else hates so I guess this doesnt apply to me very much. I bought a bright blue diesel panda on purpose.

Any all wheel drive car. I guess because it just seems like cheating to me. I’m fine having a nose heavy FWD car and of course I appreciate RWD, but AWD just puts me off in some way.
Also great song, got me right in the feels :’(

Hyundais. It’s like they are on the right track but a part of me still feels like they need more time in the oven before I can honestly say I would consider one. Optimas are becoming the new douche car in my area and that isn’t helping.
Regarding the GTR, I couldn’t care less about it. I would prefer a Tesla P90D over it. When GTRs first came out I was enamored by them but they’ve become so bland and pedestrian to me that when I see them in traffic I don’t even care. If someone gave me one for free I’d find a way to sell it immediately and get something 10x more interesting and just as fast.

I really don’t give a crap what other people might think about what I like. I’ve been open about my love for the Nissan Murano Crosscab. How fewer bothers could I give?
Don’t let other people’s opinions sway yours. Be yourself, or something.

Brave from a reliability standpoint? I let an Alfa take my heart once and that’s not going to be the last time.
Brave from what people think about me? I couldn’t care less. If I like it, I’ll drive it.
Brave because it could mean my imminent doom? My dad said if I buy a motorcycle I’m off his health insurance and paying for anything that happens(not just bike-related), but once I’ve graduated college and hopefully have an employer provided plan the call of two wheels is strong.
Hell, I already drive a rollover prone vehicle with no airbags and little protection from a crash in any direction besides straight up the ass and no driver aids besides rear-wheel only ABS, surprisingly decent brakes and its incredible lack of power. I contemplate my morality while driving it regularly, but the fact is the tug of older vehicles for me is stronger than my desire for self-preservation.

With my Preludes, a lot of people say something to the effect of “I usually don’t like Hondas, but...”
I’m no fan of modern Hondas either.

Good choice. Lindsey Sterling is awesome. She is insane on the violin.
I guess mine would be the new Mustang. I had one as a rental car earlier this year. Even though it was an ecoboost, it was a blast to drive. Then all the Mustang hate happened. It’s a shame because to me it really is a great car. It’s already bad enough to have the BMW stereotype, but I am as big a fanboy for BMW’s as anybody and can look past all the jokes. I’m not sure I could if I owned a Mustang though.

The BMW M3 I guess? Well, any BMW below an M5 or a 6-series maybe, but the M3 is probably the quintessential sport sedan. I’ve been told by a lot of people that it is the kind of car they imagine I would drive, and then they’re shocked when they see the boat I actually drive.
I wish I could like the M3. That I could admit that even though I think it’s a cliche, it’s popular for a reason. It is an excellent road and track performer...but it’s so. Damn. Small. And I perceive it as being uncomfortable. My whole life I’ve had squishy air suspension and long wheelbases and the M3 is just everything against what I know I like, and it closes me off to the new experience.

The 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R. I take a different approach than some to this car and cars like it (ie., the Nissan R35).
Wheelerguy, the Nissan is still a champion. There is allowed to be more than one champion. Even at the same time. :P
